  Strident and reedy, the sardonic tone of the medieval horns with their trade-mark obsolete sounding cachet resonate like a heathen derision of the trumpets of the Apocalypse, undermining the eschatological finitude of times in favour of the integral and circular unity of traditional balance.
  Swamp-like dissonance weaved by the guitar arpeggios, on several occasions, build the tapestry to the unfolding of greater epics. The gritty and dirty sound of these profane strings are the soil of this music and feel like a reminder of its black metal roots.
  The cinematographic antics of certain songs are not only a way to accentuate the narrative but seek to convey the energy of an epic scenery, like a transposition of Haendel’s Music for the Royal Fireworks on the scale of Tolkien Mythology.
  The cascading voices of the Coryphaeus seem to dance hypnotized by the beauty of their polyphonic transgressions and sound to our ears like a tribute to the disharmonic beauty of Melkor’s dissenting themes.
  Song 6 in particular emphasizes the active and contemplative Janus spirit of the music, where the verses of the eagle-laden orator are echoed by the ghost-like whispering of a Nyx, like an elemental suggestion embodied through Nature’s forces, the wind in the trees of some ancient forest.
  The careful building and setting of moods is bound for intertwinement, forming the introspective and relaxed prelude to the triumphant and glorious development of their suggested undertones.
  Like other commentators so relevantly noticed (DMU), one can only acknowledge the synthetic quality of this work, a résumé of Summoning’s career in the wake or the passing of something, a suspension through which the listener is not threated in some base logic of self-nourishing consumption impulse, but left to meditate the greater picture of Summoning’s Œuvre and hope that its unbridled spirit (by commercial dictate) may incarnate itself once again after a long sleep.

  7 ans que nous attendions leur Retour !
  Et une fois de plus, Summoning repousse les frontières de la Terre du Milieu !
  Tolkien serait fier de leur travail...
  Un chef d'oeuvre !!!

• Einfach nur genial

  Dieses Album ist einfach nur genial! Wieder einmal gelingt es Protector und Silenius ein musikalisches Meisterwerk zu erschaffen. Es ist nicht einfach Musik zum Hören, es ist Musik zum Fühlen und zum Träumen. Schon ab der ersten Minute wird man in die fantastische Welt von J. R. R. Tolkien geführt und sieht vor dem inneren Auge die Welt von Mittelerde. Ein ganz grosses Lob für dieses Meisterwerk!

  Und wieder ein starkes Album, die habens echt drauf! Stronghold ist als ganzes für mich immer noch die beste, aber diese hier ist absolut auf Augenhöhe. Na, dann warten wir mal wieder 7 Jahre bis zur nächsten Runde:-)
  By the way, wer noch einen Nachschlag will, zieht mal Caladan Brood rein, ist zwar eine totale Summoning Kopie, aber wenigstens auf fast gleich hohem Niveau.
