When Ryota`s brother Yata disappears at sea, the intrepid youth and his friends join forces with a slightly trustworthy bank robber, steal a boat and go after him! Auf der Suche nach seinem vermissten Bruder strandet ein junger Mann mit seinen Begleitern auf der Teufelsinsel. Hier ist die militärische Geheimorganisation ROTER BAMBUS aktiv. Zu allem Schrecken wird die Insel ausserdem von dem monströsen Krebstier Ebirah bewacht, das jeden Eindringling angreift.
Als die Gestrandeten und ein Eingeborenenmädchen immer mehr durch die schiesswütigen Soldaten des ROTEN BAMBUS gefährdet werden, wecken sie das in einer Höhle schlafende Monster Godzilla. Godzilla schreitet zum Kampf der Giganten gegen Ebirah und den ROTEN BAMBUS. Die Insel versinkt im Chaos und nur die friedliche Riesenmotte Mothra könnte die Rettung sein.
Doch wird sie rechtzeitig erwachen, bevor die Insel zur Hölle wird?
