Black Sabbath made a two-pronged comeback in 1980 and 1981 when Ronnie James Dio joined their ranks as their new lead singer for the platinum albums, Heaven And Hell and Mob Rules. On the 1982 Mob Rules U.S. tour, they decided to record shows to create the first official Black Sabbath live album. With material drawn evenly between songs written with Ronnie as well as older classics such as "War Pigs" and "Iron Man," when Live Evil was released at the end of 1982, it represented an accurate and powerful memento of Black Sabbath Mk2 on their second world tour. Although it was hailed by influential heavy metal magazine Kerrang! As "one of the greatest live albums of all time" in 1983, the band was never completely satisfied with the original mix. Now we are able to present a fresh, new 40th anniversary mix of the entire album, remixed from the original analog multi tracks by longtime associate of the band, Wyn Davis. The packaging will also include a 40-page hard back book featuring a newly commissioned 12,000-word essay, the new remix as a double LP, as well as the original double album, newly remastered in 2022 by Andy Pearce. The CD edition will also be four discs, with a 60-page hardback book.

    un album stratosferico, con un Ronnie James Dio altamente passionale. in Iron Man Butler suona il basso come non mai. Unica nota negativa il fatto di aver realizzato questo live senza Ozzy.

    Auf dem Original-CD-Release von 1983 fehlte der Track "War Pigs", mit der üblichen Ausrede, dies sei notwendig gewesen, um die Veröffentlichung auf einer einzigen CD zu einem speziellen Preis zu ermöglichen. Heute gibt's alle Tracks für schlappe Fr. 19.90. Danke, Plattenindustrie!

    Ronnie stark (wie eigentlich immer, ausser an seinem 2000er Gig in Pratteln), Geezer und Tony wie sie sein sollten: hart und doch fingerfleissig (natürlich nicht im Vergleich mit Yngwie & Konsorten, aber haben DIE etwa N.I.B. oder Heaven And Hell geschrieben?), Geoff präzise und diskret wie immer, und Vinnie wie ein Tier an den Trommeln. Sobald diese Fraktion gegen Ende des Sets die "H&H - Sign Of The Southern Cross"-Epik zelebriert, weiss ich ganz einfach, dass sich die Studiostreitereien dieser Mannen beim Mixen bezahlt gemacht haben. Wenn Du diese prä-80er-Glam-Metal-Offenbarung kaufst, darfst Du getrost auch Heaven And Hell, sowie Mob Rules mitbestellen und davon träumen, wie die Songs, die aufgrund der BS-Altlast 1970-78 stiefmütterlich vergessen wurden die Bühnen der Welt hätten erschüttern lassen....
