Jenny Slate voices the titular character in this comedy drama combining live-action and stop-motion animation directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp. When documentary film-maker Dean (Fleischer-Camp) moves into an Airbnb after the collapse of his marriage, he discovers a one-inch-tall talking shell called Marcel living there with his grandmother, Nana Connie (voice of Isabella Rossellini) and Alan, their pet ball of lint. As Dean begins filming Marcel's adventures and posting them online, they discover the benefits and perils of sharing their lives on the internet, but all Marcel wants is to find his missing family members who were inadvertently taken by one of the house's previous occupants while hiding in a sock drawer.
