Children’s television… it’s a cut-throat world. Fired from his hit kid’s show after a bribery scandal, “Rainbow Randolph” star Randolph Smiley (Robin Williams) finds himself out on the street and replaced by squeaky-clean Sheldon Mopes (Edward Norton), and all-round do-gooder who entertains kids dressed as a loveable purple rhino called Smoochy. Much to Randolph’s anger, The Smoochy Show is a huge hit, but he isn’t about to take it on the chin. He sets out on an unrelenting smear campaign, hoping to drag Smoochy’s name through the mud with a series of increasingly aggressive schemes. But Randolph is only part of the problem. What with merchandise spin-offs, an on-again off-again romance with network exec Nora (Catherine Keener) and the unwanted attentions of a shifty agent (Danny DeVito) and some Irish gangsters, Sheldon’s honourable intentions are coming under fire from every angle. Led by a hilarious turn by Robin Williams, and directed by Danny DeVito, Death To Smoochy is a seriously twisted look at the lengths to which some people will go to hold on to fame.

When Randolph Smiley, also known as "Rainbow Randolph" is sacked from his job as the star of a children's television show, he vows to get revenge on his replacement. Smoochy, the big rhino played by Sheldon Mopes has more to worry about than Randolph when he hits the big time.

cela jusqu'au bout (ceux qui n'ont pas remarqué que de Vito se fout de la gueule des ridicules spectacles Di$ney on ice ne sont pas faits pour ce film). Méchant, hilarant, esthétiquement extrêmement travaillé, un bonheur absolu de comédie vénère avec un Robin Williams prodigieux et qui, dans l'indifférence générale, nous offrait la même année deux prestations phénoménales dans Insomnia (où il écrasait Pacino) et surtout dans le brillantissime One hour photo. Hollywood a foiré Robin Williams tout comme Jim Carrey (Man on the moon, The Truman show, The cable guy, I love you Philip Morris et Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, c'est quand légèrement plus intéressant que Sonic et Cie). De Vito signée son meilleur film (100% misanthrope ça fait du bien) avec Balance maman hors du train et le très sous-estimé Hoffa.

Gibt sicher bessere schwarze Komödien als diese, jedoch auch schlechtere. Ist für eine heutige, schwarze Komödie ein bisschen lau ausgefallen.

Aber die Hintermänner im Showbiz kriegen schon ihr Fett weg. Hat sehr viele zweideutige Dialoge über das wahre Kinderfernsehen...

Besetzung ist auch nicht schlecht...Edward Norton legt wieder eine beeindruckende Leistung hin.

Aber ob das alles ausreicht, für eine schw.Komödie...??
