kika is one sexy misadventure after another. it is a character-driven movie worthy of its own genre. funny, sexy, passionate, intriguing and twisted make up the foundation for this eclectic film directed by the acclaimed pedro almodovar. almodovar is an international success, having produced such hit movies as 'tie me up! tie me down!' and 'women on the verge of a nervous breakdown'. he is also a journalist whose articles reflect his eccentric perspective.
kika (veronica forqué) is a sensuous free-spirit who is sought, and caught, by all. she lives with ramon, a lingerie photographer with an obsessive personality. kika is negative about their over-exposed relationship, believing in her heart that ramon will never develop into the man she pictures as her soul mate. speaking of hearts, ramon suffers from a bad ticker, which causes him to flicker in and out from time to time. along comes nicholas (peter coyote), ramon's stepfather, an amoral and impoverished writer, who moves in with kika and ramon. he does more than increase their milk bill as his presence rejuvenates kika's sexuality. however, ramon is depressed because nicholas (besides romping with kika) reminds him of his mother who committed suicide while married to nicholas. now, let's add a lesbian maid who's in love with kika, and her ex-porno star brother who stops by for an engaging visit. apparently this household doesn't need cable tv to add spice to their lives.
hold on! we can't forget andrea "scarface" (victoria abril), the queen-of-trash-tv hostess who puts her head-or face-into her work. it's hard to figure out which has more fire power... her motorcycle or her emotional cycle! but wait... don't forget about the murderer and the voyeur on the loose. maybe they just want to get a little kika, too?
