Ted Wallace, having been fired from his job with a newspaper, is keen to retreat to the country estate of an old friend. Having failed as a poet, a drama critic, and even as a husband, Ted has enough sorrows to drown to merit a lengthy stay at the estate, but soon finds another reason to linger there.
