Description

When an allied charge on the German lines goes horribly wrong, one man finds himself stranded in No Man's Land. Reuniting with two other survivors, together they must help each other as they charge into the unknown across the muddy wasteland as the Germans quickly hone in on the desperate trio. Tensions rise between the soldiers as they are surrounded by explosions of grenades with the constant rattle of machine guns in their ears. Time is running out as they make their way back over enemy lines as an impending attack could soon take them out.

Eine Eindrückliche Darstellung vom Kriegsschauplatz 1. Weltkrieg, eine Geschichte von Kameradschaft im Niemandsland zwischen den Fronten. Unmenschliche Kommandeure, denen ein Menschenleben nichts wert ist, auf beiden Seiten. Es werden auch die privaten Beziehungen der Soldaten zu Hause beleuchtet; dabei kriegt der Film recht gut die Kurve, ohne ins allzu Sentimental-Kitschige abzurutschen. Ein lustiges Detail: Das junge Produktionsteam musste wegen Geldmangel die Schützengräben selbst ausheben und gestalten. Ein Regensturm ein Tag vor Drehbeginn trug jedoch dazu bei, dass die Schützengräben schliesslich sehr realistisch aussahen und sogar von Fachleuten gelobt wurden. Fazit: Lohnendes Spektakel und Geschichtslektion in Einem.
