When professor Daniel Jackson (James Spader) accepts a mysterious woman's offer to decode an ancient Egyptian artifact known only as the Stargate, he unwittingly takes the first step in a sci-fi adventure that will decide the fate of an entire planet. Joined by Daniel is Colonel Jack O'Neil (Kurt Russell), a true soldier with nerves of steel and a tragic past, who is brought back to active duty to embark on the maiden voyage through the Stargate. Together, the men embark on a journey that will transport them to the other side of the universe, where an alien god (Jaye Davidson) holds sway over a distant, desert-covered planet and will stop at nothing to prevent them from returning home.

Ce film a été une révélation pour moi dans les années 90 et cela fait une éternité que je ne l'ai pas vu. Il n'a pas perdu de son charme! Et de revoir James Spader dans ce rôle, tout jeune.. ou presque ... quel bonheur!

Film de Science-Fiction merveilleux. Messages hiéroglyphiques intemporels - mythe et science-fiction. Immortalité et technologie. Mis à part que le film en lui-même est excellent, je tenais à vous mettre en garde concernant la qualité des supports DVD des collections Canal +, en effet il faut presque les manier avec des gants de chirurgiens. Malgré une attention toute particulière à mes films, ces DVD's là deviennent rapidement illisible, même sans rayure profonde. J'en suis à la commande de la troisième copie de ce film, et ma dernière copie je l'ai manipulée avec une attention extrême et malgré tout je n'ai pas pu regarder le film une grande quantité de fois. Je vous conseille faire une copie de sécurité à l'achat et de regarder la copie.

Klar, die Effekte muss man im Kontext der Zeit in der er entstand begreifen (1994). Aber das ist es nicht. Ich finde die Story absolut fad umgesetzt. Die Charaktere durchschaubar bis lächerlich. Ich weiss nicht, es gibt praktisch keinen einzigen Moment, der mich wirklich fasziniert. 20 Jahre nach StarWars hätte ich mehr von einem Film erwartet.

Habe den Film gestern auf SF 2 geschaut. Eigentlich bin ich kein Sci-Fic-Fan und schaue mir die Film sehr ungern an, doch hat mir die Story zu gesagt und habe den Film dem entsprechen mitverfolgt. Ergebnis: Bin positiv überrascht, vorallem die Story find ich sehr gut!
