nirvana exploded onto a music scene that had no mind, no depth and no substance. a young audience, sick to the teeth of formula pop and sugar-coated, safe rock was quickl seduced by the dark and dangerous charisma of this loud, angr band hailing from "nowhere" usa.
this band were different - they were multi-dimensional - the songs could be angry, ugly or beautiful as hell - kurt cobain's voice and the thrashing guitars a nightmare or the saddest lament for lost humanity. these paradoxes were the driving force behind one of the best live bands of all time - a real fans' band, that loved nothing better than to entertain an audience.
nirvana were not the most fluent nor the most proficient live band and some of the sets were jagged and raw frrom start to finish - but there was always an urgency, a latent force and dangerous drawing spontaneity about them, and kurt in particular, that sent audience wild.
