Norse mythology meets Monty Python-esque humor in the Terry Jones written & directed comedy, Erik The Viking. Erik (Tim Robbins, The Player, The Shawshank Redemption), the Viking of the title, in an effort to petition the gods to save the planet for the impending Ragnarok - "the end of the world" - must travel to Asgard with a less-than-stellar crew at his side. The supporting players include Mickey Rooney (The Black Stallion, It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World), Eartha Kitt (Boomerang, The Emperor's New Groove), John Cleese (A Fish Called Wanda, Yellowbeard), Terry Jones (Jabberwocky, Monty Python and The Holy Grail) and Charles McKeown (Brazil, Monty Python's The Life of Brian).

This is the story of a Viking Warrior who thought there must be more to life than rape and pillage.
Erik's doubts about his own lifestyle begin when he inadvertently falls in love with a pretty girl he has just killed. Not that he meant to kill her you understand but this being the legendary Age of Ragnarok killing people is rather in fashion., and mishaps are bound to occur.
In fact, any Viking warrior who hasn't killed at least one person by the lunch break is generally reckoned to be a bit of a rotten apple.
So Erik sets off for Asgaard - the fabled city of the Gods - along with his rather unruly band of followers: Thorfinn the Skull, Sven the Berserk's, ULF the Maddeningly Calm (Sven the Berserk's father), Harald the Missionary (17 years without a single convert), Lief the Lucky (Who is unfortunately drowned on his first day at sea), Ivar the Boneless, Odd the Coal-Biter (there really was a Viking named that) and the rest of them.
