Christopher Walken is out of prison and back on the dirty streets of New York as convicted drug lord Frank White in a pitch black 90s crime classic from the magnificently disreputable Abel Ferrara (Driller Killer, Ms.45). White returns to his old patch to find it in disarray as the parasites that moved in to capture his business don't share in the same Robin Hood spirit. Soon he's violently taking out the competition, stealing their stashes and turning a healthy profit on the gear, putting it towards building a new South Bronx hospital. But you can't make an omelet without breaking some heads. As the street killings rise and the corrupt cops close in, White's crazed mix of criminal psychosis and heartfelt charity threatens to tear apart everything he's fought so hard to build...

In New York, crime gets done Frank`s way - or it doesn`t get done at all. Recently freed from prison, Frank White (Walken) hooks up with his old crew to challenge his few fellow druglords. Each bloody battle aims at a piece of the high-priced action where being at the top of the chain can mean the difference between life and death. Unable to keep him behind bars, the cops declare war on him. Frank`s answer - put a contract out on the cops.

    un film proprement hallucinant. tant au niveau de la narration que du jeu des acteurs. Christopher Walken est hypnotisant. Un des meilleurs films de Abel Ferrara à ranger aux côtés de Bad Lieutenant et The Funeral.

    King of New York währe ein absolut genialer Streifen (kann sich locker mit Scarface messen!) ...aber leider ist die deutsche DVD um über 20 Minuten gekürzt
    so ergeben sich einige Löcher in der Story und sämtliche Schiessereien sind über geschnitten
    ...die Bewertung ausgezeichnet bezieht sich auf die englische spez.Edition welche auch hier bei CeDe zu finden ist

    Dieser Film gefällt mir wirklich nicht!Schlechte tonspur und schlecht gespielt!!Der Film hätte sicherlich besser sein können!!Trotz sehr gute schauspielern ist dieser Film echt schlecht!!Kauft euch lieber true romance,das begräbnis oder vendetta.Dort spielt walken eine richtige rolle.

    der film ist von der geschichte her ziemlich gut aber man hätte mehr draus machen können obwohl der film auch so recht gut ist. dazu gibt es gute schauspieler wie christopher walken(das begräbnis)david caruso(jade)laurence fishburne(fleed-flucht nach plan mit stephen baldwin)und wesley snipes(new jack city). fishburne spielt wirklich genial und überzeugend und snipes hat nicht mal eine richtig tragende rolle.

    Trotz diverser guter Schauspieler ein lausiger Film. Mieses Drehbuch, unglaubwürdige Charaktere...zum weglaufen. Kauft Euch besser "Godfellas"...
