A classic `70s slasher film - and one of the first big hits of the VHS horror explosion of the early `80s - Schizo was British filmmaker Pete Walker`s answer to Psycho, an erotic thriller that used pop psychology as a springboard for shocking acts of violence.
Lynne Frederick (Vampire Circus) stars as a beautiful ice skater who, as a child, witnessed the gruesome murder of her mother. After Samantha marries, her close friends begin to be horrifically killed, one by one, and she is brought closer to an inevitable confrontation with the murderer.
Upon its original UK release, more than a minute of violent footage was censored by the British Board of Film Classification. Even so, the critics were shocked by the gruesomeness that remained. The Sunday Telegraph called Schizo "very entertaining... if you like street accidents."
This edition represents the complete, uncut version of Schizo, and features a newly filmed interview with director Pete Walker.
Samantha Gray (Lynne Frederick, „Circus der Vampire“) wurde als Kind Zeugin, wie ein Mann namens Haskin (Jack Watson, „Augen der Angst“) ihre Mutter umbrachte. Inzwischen ist sie erwachsen und heiratet den Industriellen Alan Falconer (John Leyton, „Gesprengte Ketten“). Doch auf der Hochzeit sieht sie Haskin wieder, den sie im Gefängnis vermutet hat. In der Folgezeit fühlt sie sich zunehmend von dem Mann verfolgt und auch ihre Freundin Beth (Stephanie Beacham, „Dracula jagt Mini-Mädchen“) kann ihr nicht helfen. Schliesslich kommt es sogar zu einer Reihe von Morden und Samantha weiss nicht mehr, ob sie wahnsinnig ist oder nicht...
