Description

Considered a local hero for a game-clinching jump shot on her high school basketball team, Mare is the sole detective on her police force, which spends most of its time handling drug-related offenses. Behind the scenes, Mare is dealing with the unaddressed loss of her son, running a busy household filled with her mother, teenage daughter, and grandson, and an ex-husband who lives a stone's throw away with his new fiance.

As pressure mounts to solve a missing person's case growing increasingly cold, the murder of a teen girl finds Mare obsessed with bringing the killer to justice in a town where everyone is a potential suspect.

Mare sieht sich konfrontiert mit mehreren Baustellen in ihrem Leben. Auf der einen Seite ist sie schwer getroffen vom Selbstmord ihres Sohnes auf der beruflichen Seite belastet sie ein ungelöster Fall von Easttown und ihre Mutter lebt bei ihr, mit der sie nicht gerade ein einfaches Verhältnis hat. Mit dem Mord an einer Jugendlichen beginnen in Easttown viele Dinge ans Tageslicht zu geraten und am Schluss beginnt die Aufarbeitung in kleinen Schritten, sodass am Schluss doch auch positive Dinge passieren und eine gewisse Versöhnung stattfindet, was ich noch gut finde. Nach dem Tunnel kommt das Licht und es ist nicht der entgegenkommende Zug, wie zynische Bemerkungen manchmal so meinen. Mare of Easttown, ist ein Drama, ein Krimi, manchmal ein Thriller, sehr gut gespielt, mit einem überraschenden Ende auch. Empfehlenswert für Krimi/Drama Fans.
