Outside a mountain town grappling with a series of abductions and murders, Paul, a reclusive writer, struggles to start what he hopes will be a career-saving screenplay. After a tense encounter at a diner with a drifter named Jack, Paul offers Jack a place to stay-and soon the edgy, demanding Jack muscles his way into Paul's work. As a storm cuts off power to the isolated cabin, the two men begin a jagged game of one-upmanship that will bring at least one tale to an end.

BLACK BUTTERFLY bleibt anspruchslos und zu vorhersehbar. Auch das Ende wirkt plump und zu wenig überraschend. Dabei wären die Voraussetzungen und die Ausgangslage durchaus vielversprechend gewesen. Doch wer Filme wie MISERY, ZIMMER 1408 oder DAS GEHEIME FENSTER von Stephen King kennt, wird nichts Neues bei BLACK BUTTERFLY finden. Unerwartete Twists, mehr Tiefgang und einen AHA-Effekt hätten dem Film die nötige Würze gegeben. Auch bleiben einige Fragen unbeantwortet im Raum stehen. Optisch und schauspielerisch aber OK und daher für einen nebligen und kühlen Abend durchaus empfehlenswert. Jedoch sollte man nicht allzu hohe Anforderungen und Erwartungen haben.

Mince, j'avais relativement vite deviné la fin du film (et je ne me suis pas trompé), enfin je le pensais... jusqu'à la "vraie fin"... qui casse tout le film :-( t'as pas le droit... switch beaucoup trop facile! Bon on va retenir le 1ère fin :-)
