When a washed-up former Golden Globe winning screenwriter is forced to leave Hollywood for a less glamorous position teaching writing classes at a state university in upstate New York, the second chance he`s hoping for throws him some unexpected curves. His lackadaisical attitude towards his new position changes when he begins to fall in love with one of his students, a single mother working two jobs to earn her degree.
