The most playful and also the grittiest film of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Three Colors trilogy, White follows the adventures of Karol Karol (Zbigniew Zamachowski), a Polish immigrant living in France. The hapless hairdresser opts to leave Paris for his native Warsaw when his wife (Julie Delpy) sues him for divorce (her reason: their marriage was never consummated) and then frames him for arson after setting her own salon ablaze. The film, which goes on to chronicle Karol Karol’s elaborate revenge plot, manages to be both a ticklish dark comedy about the economic inequalities of Eastern and Western Europe and a sublime reverie on twisted love.

'Three Colours white', a very funny ironic black comedy, is the second film in Krzysztof Kieslowski's acclaimed triolgy based on the three ideals of the French Revolution. Karol, a Polish hairdresser, is divorced by his beautiful French wife Dominique and thrown onto the streets of Paris, penniless and with no passport. All seems lost until he meets a fellow Pole who ingeniously smuggles Karol Back to Warsaw in a suitcase. Once there, Karol is determined to take revenge against his ex-wife. He deals successfully on the black market until he has enough money to put his plan into action, but he hasn't counted on love getting in the way of it's perfect execution.
