Two years after being released from his job as an accountant, alcoholic Duval (François Cluzet) receives an unexpected offer from mysterious businessman Clement (Denis Podalydès). Tasked with the seemingly straightforward job of transcribing telephone conversations for Clement, the desperate Duval gratefully accepts the post without asking for any further details. However, after overhearing a conversation describing a recent murder, Duval soon finds himself in the middle of a major political conspiracy with little hope of escape.
