Description
Per interesse il Visir vuol fare sposare il califfo con una principessa. Ma il Califfo un giorno, andando in giro per la città sotto mentite spoglie, vede Marsinah, la figlia di Ali, il poeta mendicante, e se ne innamora. Con mille accorgimenti, cerca di conoscere la ragazza e si traveste da giardiniere. Un musical orientaleggiante molto sontuoso. La celebre canzone "Stranger in Paradise" è in realtà una delle "Danze polovesiane" di Alexandr Borodin, arrangiata.
