From the producers of PAN`S LABYRINTH and THE ORPHANGE, this creepy supernatural thriller centres on Maria, a marine biologist. With her five year-old son Diego in tow, Maria journeys to the isolated island of El Hierro for a well-deserved break. Her recreation is however short lived when Diego vanishes on the ferry. With the police writing-off Diego`s disappearance as a case of the child simply falling overboard Maria returns home. But six months later she is called and asked to return to El Hierro when a child’s body is discovered on the shore. Rejecting the notion that the body is that of her son and confined to the island until a judge-sanctioned DNA test can be carried out, Maria decides to launch an investigation of her own...

    Das Verschwinden von Kindern ist bereits auf verschiedene Weise in Filmen wie "Flightplan" und kürzlich in "Changeling" gezeigt worden. In "Hierro" kommt noch eine Prise Paranoia hinzu. Fazit: Die Darstellung und die Landschaftsaufnahmen von den Kanarischen Inseln sind prima. Grundsätzlich ist die Geschichte (fast)originell konstruiert, doch der Sexappeal der Hauptdarstellerin musste wohl als Lückenfüller für die fehlende Geschwindigkeit herhalten. Auch manche kleine Schwäche in der Logik des Drehbuchs mindern den sonst nicht schlechten Film. Ein Thrillerchen für die Teestunde am warmen Ofen. Deshalb ein knappes ....
