July 22, 1934... the ambush death of Public enemy #1 John Dillinger in a barrage of FBI bullets! Or was it? It seems that J. Edgar Hoover`s boys have blown away the wrong Dillinger... not John, but his brother. The "real" John Dillinger (Martin Sheen) slips away to go straight with a new life and a new family.

But "Scarface" Al Capone (F. Murray Abraham) knows all about Dillinger and his secret new identity. He wants Dillinger to pull one more heist: a bank where Capone has millions stashed away. And he`s got an offer Dillinger can`t refuse! Dillinger and Capone...together again!
