Amazing enough, this special edition Blu-ray/CD is the first in studio production of the Kirov Ballet in a program of classic and contemporary repertoire with works by Chopin, Barber, Stravinsky, Adam, and more. With a reputation as one of the best ballet companies in the world, the Kirov, today known as the Mariinsky Ballet was founded in the 18th century and has produced generations of legendary dancers. Featuring many of their current lead dancers, including Larissa Lezhnina, Altynai Asylmuratova, Sergei Vikharev, Faroukh Ruzimatov, Konstantin Zaklinsky, Yelena Pankova, and more, the Kirov's reputation as standard bearers of the ballet canon compellingly presented in this production produced and directed by Thomas Grimm. With the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre conducted by Victor A. Fedotov, the included CD contains the entirety of the soundtrack to the film.
