Set in 19th century Russia, at a time when hired duelists settled disputes between the nobility for a steep price. The rakish protagonist, a retired army veteran, is a professional duelist who enjoys a lavish lifestyle thanks to his ability to come out victorious from other people's fights. He starts to question his chosen profession though, when he falls in love with the charming sister of his next adversary.
